Schubert’s “Ave Maria”

Schubert did not compose Christmas music, but when we listen to one of his pieces, “Ave Maria,” it sounds like a Christmas carol. It’s not odd to say that because Christmas is the birthday of Jesus Christ. It was mostly Liszt who arranged Schubert’s music. Arranging “Ave Maria” for piano, Liszt applied his splendid techniques to Schubert’s classical style. The brilliance of both men created this masterpiece.
